[maemo-users] Is Bluetooth suspended when the display is switched off?

Dear Maemo users,

I am using my Bluetooth GPS device (Nokia LD-1W) for GPS tracking - that is, I have a simple client connected to gpsd, recording the track. gpsd, in turn, readis the serial link (rfcomm) in watcher mode.

Things work just fine, but there are 2 annoying glitches.

1. Bluetooth seems to get suspended whenever whenever the display switches off (including when I put the cover on). The connection is reopened when the display comes back on (gpsd takes care of that), but alas, no data goes from the GPS to gpsd in the meantime.

2. Even more annoyingly, the Bluetooth stack tends to get corrupted whenever the display is switched off. All communication hangs, hcitool scan exits with 'Connection timed out error', and I have to switch the device to offline mode and back to get things working. I believe this problem was reported in an earlier thread in February.

The question is, is there a way to prevent the Bluetooth from being suspended when the display switches off? I figure that if problem 1 is solved, problem 2 will go away as well.

I am using 3.2005.51-13.

Thanks in advance,
Ondrej
