I am not 100% sure what the real problem is here, but anyway...

When you connect the defaukt 770 device to your Linux PC and have a MMC
card inserted into the 770 then your 770 will act as a USB mass storage
device presenting the inserted MMC card to your PC. you can then mount
the device, usually an emulated SCSI disk /dev/sda1, to some place and
copy files to it, umount it and ready you are.
Many recent Linux desktops like Gnome and KDE will do the mount
automatically for you.

Or of course you could use a normal MMC card reader with the RS-MMC to
MMC adapter. The rest of the procedure is almost the same as above...
