The link is normal, I think.
What about an lvscan -v ? does it say anything wrong? are you running
these commands as root or any other similarly powerful user?

I can't see what might be wrong. The file in /dev/volgrp0 is a symlink to /dev/mapper/volgrp0-
volume1 and not /dev/mapper/volgrp0/volume1. Could that be the problem?
Any other ideas?
