Heinz, What you're saying makes sense, I changed the Physical Volume Numbers from to matching the order with the uuid order hdg1 #2 3 hdc1 #3 2 hdb1 #4 1 hde #5 4 After that, vgimport stopped complaining about the wrong number of volumes. Summary of my hexedits: (execept for renumbering PV#s, all were on hdg1 only) I noticed that there was a bunch of garbage in the first 512 bytes of /dev/hdg1 so I used the other Physical Volumes as references and "cleaned up the data". The first 4 bytes (in hex) were: 88 77 AA 55 I changed them to: 48 4D 01 00 The uuid listed was: LsbEp5-ogHi-xcK5-NUnA-PItC-OmZ{-KSu3zg I changed it to (based on what the other volumes were reporting) LrbEp4-ofHi-xbK4-NTnA-PHtC-OmZz-KSu3zg The VG name was: my_mvmPW_EXQ I changed it to: my_lvmPV_EXP The system id was: PW_EXQcaruman/emco.eyodos/osg1034723755 I changed it to: PV_EXPcartman.emco.dyndns.org1034722745 In addition to this, all of the padded space was filled with alternating 01 00 01 00 01 00 ... etc. This was unlike the other volumes, filled in with zeros only. Thank you for your time, Emmanuel Heinz J .
