It looks like config file syntax > changed over time. http://www.lm-sensors.org/wiki/Devices has this to say about k8temp: Upgrade to lm_sensors 2.10.1 or later is mandatory, earlier versions of libsensors will fail with a "General parse error" message. If memory serves, it's unrelated to the configuration file. I'm almost certain that you would get the error with "sensors -c /dev/null".
