Sensors detected, modules load, but nothing reported in sensors

I have an iWill Zmaxdp (dual opteron) on the Nforce3 250 Pro chipset.

Running sensors-detect, I found the following chips/buses:
eeprom
i2c-isa
i2c-nforce2
w83627hf
it87

I had sensors-detect create my configuration files, and ran rc-update
add lm_sensors default. Here is my output from sensors-detect:
Driver `it87' (may not be inserted):
  Misdetects:
  * ISA bus address 0x0290 (Busdriver `i2c-isa')
    Chip `ITE IT8705F / IT8712F / SiS 950' (confidence: 8)

Driver `w83627hf' (should be inserted):
  Detects correctly:
  * ISA bus address 0x0290 (Busdriver `i2c-isa')
Chip `Winbond W83627THF Super IO Sensors' (confidence: 9)

Just for safety, I also added these modules to autoload

When I rebooted, I confirmed these modules are all loaded.

Output from lsmod:

Note that sensors-detect did not generate a module load for it87, so I
added that on my own. But I have tried with and without it87 loaded and
it still does not detect anything.

There are no errors or informational messages in dmesg or
/var/log/kernel/current which I have attached to this message.

My kernel is gentoo-patched source 2.6.11-r5. I have i2c-dev compiled
in, everything else as modules. Running 64 bit SMP. I have attached my
kernel config to this email too.

When I run sensors, I only get the eeprom, however:

eeprom-i2c-4-51
Adapter: SMBus nForce2 adapter at c400
Memory type: DDR SDRAM DIMM
Memory size (MB): 512

eeprom-i2c-4-50
Adapter: SMBus nForce2 adapter at c400
Memory type: DDR SDRAM DIMM
Memory size (MB): 512

eeprom-i2c-1-50
Adapter: dvi
Either use the ddcmon driver instead of the eeprom driver,
or run the decode-edid.pl script.

The winbond and it87 adapters just do not appear, so I cannot see any
real sensor data (no temps for example), yet sensors-detect sees these
sensors, and the modules load okay.

sensors version is 2.9.0 same as libsensors.

Any ideas?
