Regarding ticket 1059.... I figured it out. In debian, you *need* the lm-sensors-source package (which albeit source isn't a "source package" which is rather confusing) *in addition* to the lm-sensors package. So I got it working now. You may want to through this into the resolution of the ticket for future reference of others. Otherwise feel free to close the ticket. Thanks and sorry.
