I think this looks mostly ok, a couple notes below.

It's not super clear from the caller's context that this can error out
and exit, but that's probably ok.

A comment here about a "best effort" read and check of the filesytem's
sector size is probably useful.  The next person to read this may wonder
why there's no "else" case or failure ... it's just a best effort, right?

(No need for braces around the 1 line under "if")

What do you think about only calling this if isa_file is true, because
that's the only time it matters, and it might be good to be clear about
this in the caller. i.e.:

	rval = get_sb(&psb, 0, XFS_MAX_SECTORSIZE, 0);
	if (rval == XR_OK)

}

and remove the isa_file() from the called function.

(and rename the function to something a little more descriptive, maybe
like above?)
