Do I need to do anything to the kernel source before applying the patches?

You needed a different version of the patch for 2.6.32. Apply the attached
version. You only need the one patch.

Hello,

I managed to compile the patched kernel. To confirm - the issue of the kernel panic occuring when Fn-F2 is used to turn off the wireless card is resolved. Thank you. I'll let you know if I notice any side effects from the patch.
