Please consider that the wcn36xx driver that is already up streamed will make used of this API in due course: it is already in the planning in the course of first half of next year as we intensify the push of some of our features to this driver.
Please also consider that the corresponding changes in the supplicant will be picked up by Jouni's tree as soon as this cfg80211 API is up streamed. Jouni can vouch for this.
