Hi, I am having a weird problem. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 in Vbox (4.2.16) on Ubuntu 12.04 host. I have downloaded and compiled backports-3.11-rc3-1. Then running these commands from backports directory a couple of times make guest Ubuntu freeze. "sudo rmmod mac80211_hwsim sudo rmmod mac80211 sudo rmmod cfg80211 sudo rmmod compat sudo insmod ./compat/compat.ko sudo insmod ./net/wireless/cfg80211.ko sudo insmod ./net/mac80211/mac80211.ko sudo insmod ./drivers/net/wireless/mac80211_hwsim.ko" Looking at /proc/kgsm does not show much, attaching file log.kmsg. Looking at syslog instead I found this line just before the freeze (Attaching syslog file.): Aug 6 17:19:02 hatcher NetworkManager[884]: <info> found WiFi radio killswitch rfkill6 (at /sys/devices/virtual/mac80211_hwsim/hwsim0/ieee80211/phy0/rfkill6) (driver (unknown)) So I tried to disable network manager and guest Ubuntu did not freeze at all! Loading unloading stock modules from Ubuntu 12.04 did not freeze guest Ubuntu, with following script: "sudo rmmod mac80211_hwsim sudo rmmod mac80211 sudo rmmod cfg80211 sudo modprobe cfg80211 sudo modprobe mac80211 sudo modprobe mac80211_hwsim" So it seems that having Network manager with compat makes guest Ubuntu freeze. This looks weird. Any ideas why? I even tried backports-3.10-2 same issue with guest Ubuntu freeze. Best Regards, -- Monthadar Al Jaberi
