Not completely true; the current WiMAX stack and kernel drivers do
support the 6250 just fine; I have a 8086:0186 that does work.

Unfortunately, due to some udev changes, the firmware loading is
somewhat broken at boot time, so if you:

rmmod i2400m_usb
modprobe i2400m_usb

that should get the device up and working, which you can verify by
running 'dmesg' and you should see something like:

[231523.953097] i2400m_usb 2-4:1.0: WiMAX interface wmx0 (00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) ready
[231527.641585] i2400m_usb 2-4:1.0: firmware interface version 9.3.2
