Yeah, I thought it might not be a slam dunk. As long as there's no crash
it's all fine.

Do you mean this?

I guess we just print what we get during boot from the device.

FWIW lsusb does print out the info :
ID 0d7d:0240 Phison Electronics Corp. I/O-Magic/Transcend 6-in-1 Card Reader

....now I just remembered that the mac has a card read slot on the side
and it will probably read this microSD card. (^:

This all started because I was checking to see if the microSD storage vendor
put some stuff on the card, which they do with USB sticks.
