Yo All! In my search for an Etron replacement, I thought I had a win in a VLI VL80x based USB 3.0 card. After double checking I find I can't get that chip to work at all. Sorry for making a bad recommendation. The card keep giving messages like this: Oct 15 19:16:24 kong kernel: usb 11-3: device descriptor read/8, error -110 Oct 15 19:16:24 kong kernel: usb 11-3: new SuperSpeed USB device number 19 using xhci_hcd Oct 15 19:16:29 kong kernel: usb 11-3: device descriptor read/8, error -110 Oct 15 19:16:29 kong kernel: usb 11-3: new SuperSpeed USB device number 19 using xhci_hcd Oct 15 19:16:34 kong kernel: usb 11-3: device descriptor read/8, error -110 Oct 15 19:16:34 kong kernel: hub 11-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 3 Oct 15 19:16:56 kong kernel: hub 11-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 2. Maybe the USB cable is bad? The hub/cable plugged in is known good. Inserting a USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 device directly into the card also fails similarly. Is it just me or is that chip also known not working like the Etron? Sarah recommended I get a card with the NEC (Rensas) chipset and that is working great for me. Even with this 'bad cable'.
