Jumping in heere since my SIIG started this.  A quick google shows me
that this is not common, but not rare since Walmart stocks them.

SIIG USB 3.0 & 2.0 7-Port Hub JU-H70212-S1
SIIG USB 3.0 & 2.0 Hub Card Reader JU-H60012-S1
Syba 7 Port USB 3.0 & USB 2.0 Hub (SY-HUB20078) 
Startech 7 Port USB 3.0 / USB 2.0 Combo Hub (ST7320USBC)

I expect when USB 3.0 chips come down in price these will disappear.

Since I have confirmed my USB 1.10 (full speed) headset also fails
when directly connected into my mobo xHCI connector the hub is
a distraction from the base problem.

Good idea.  Done.  My mobo had an EHCI port, so those test results
included in my previous email.
