xhci driver guestion: is this a driver bug?

03:00.0 USB controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1042 SuperSpeed USB Host Controller
        Subsystem: Device 174c:2104
        Kernel driver in use: xhci_hcd

This is an add-on usb3 adapter, which I connect to an external usb3/SATA
docking station. The whole setup works extremely well except for one
annoying thing:

When I power-up the docking station with the computer already running,
neither the docking station nor the hard disk show up until I do one
of two things: either reboot, or rmmod/modprobe the xhci module (which
loads automatically during boot).

What's your opinion -- should the xhci driver be able to work around this
problem without help? Dunno.

Many thanks!
