After a few hours, all looks good here.

Note, I am getting the following in the kernel log, but I think I've
been getting them in the past, and just been ignoring them:
[ 5660.800479] usb 1-1.4: usb auto-resume
[ 5660.847884] usb 1-1.4: finish resume
[ 5660.848137] ehci_hcd 0000:00:1a.0: reused qh ffff88011f1bb940 schedule
[ 5660.848140] usb 1-1.4: link qh16-0001/ffff88011f1bb940 start 5 [2/0 us]
[ 5660.848157] usb 1-1.4: unlink qh16-0001/ffff88011f1bb940 start 5 [2/0 us]
[ 5660.874167] ehci_hcd 0000:00:1a.0: reused qh ffff88011f1bb940 schedule
[ 5660.874172] usb 1-1.4: link qh16-0001/ffff88011f1bb940 start 5 [2/0 us]
[ 5660.874182] usb 1-1.4: unlink qh16-0001/ffff88011f1bb940 start 5 [2/0 us]
[ 5663.116679] usb 1-1.4: usb auto-suspend, wakeup 0

Care to send this in a "real" form so I can apply it?

I'll not revert your original patch now, thanks.
