In windows the touchscreen works flawlessly.
It will be hard you monitor the exact right moment when it is turned on.
I am suspecting now that on loading the driver windows is sending some
activation package to the device (or another device 'switch'). I also
wondered if it is possible that there are multiple configurations of the
usb hub or host controller that would turn the device on.

I didn't look for another device in windows yet that could be the 'switch'

Are you sure it was detected on the USB bus? Maybe it was detected on

Sir, i think it is USB bus as its detected in windows on USB bus.
Gerhard your touchscreen detects in Windows 7 but not in Linux, are
you successfully able to use the touchscreen in windows 7 ?
Maybe they don't want to support their devices in Linux it seems.!!
Strange though.....
You cannot successfully use any driver until and unless
its detected in the Linux Kernel. You are able to use it in Windows.
