It is my inderstanding that the electronics in your Goflex 500G  enclosure 
is identical to the the electronic my GoFlex 3Tb, only the harddrives
are different. 

  Then I have two questions:

1) how to learn the FW version of the SYBA VL800 contrller card?
2) how to fined the FW and upgrade it under Linux?
   I found a link http://www.via-labs.com/en/support/downloads.jsp#driver
   but it contains only Windows driver.
