Thanks for the intructions. Unfortunately all of my one video chat friend
now hate me and I had to get a new (Microsoft!) webcam which works great!

I just want to say that please don't hold your breath waiting for the
trace from me.
Unless someone volunteers to spend their weekends having 5 minutes long
video conversations with me, I don't yet have a great way to reproduce
and at the same time avoid people hating me.

If someone wants to look into this themselves, the Logitech c270 webcam
should be easily available in your local computer accessories shop
and it's probably cheaper for you to just buy one then for me to mail
you mine.
