HP ScanJet 3670 not working Fedora 14

I'm close, I think, but stuck.
environment:
Fedora 14, 2.6.35.13-92.fc14.i686 GNOME
HP ScanJet 3670

scanner works fine under WinXP

connected to my Fedora Workstation (same cable, tried different USB ports):
(mind you, there is no difference between root results and regular
user running the commands)

from dmesg:
[ 2.992587] usb 2-2: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=1405
[ 2.992594] usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=12

in /etc/sane.d/genesys.conf

the "I:" line in /proc/bus/usb/devices for the device, reports Driver=(none)

I expect the problem lies there.

Any pointers are appreciated
