How to go about debugging usb driver.

Hi all
I recently bought a wifi router, which is a Ralink SoC, and came with some proprietary firmware pre-installed.

I found up a firmware that can run on it, called "Wive-RTNL". Much of their site, up on sourceforge is in Russian, and I do not understand it.

Anyways, it has a usb controller called dwc_otg.

I was able to compile it's usb_storage driver among the many other things. I have been using my usb HDD with it for quite some time which leads me to assume that atleast, the HCD, and the hardware in there is fine.

Next up, I wanted to use usblp on it to try out printing.
I have a couple of HP printers.

I'm facing a most peculiar printing problem on trying to print from either one of them. It so happens, that a only first bit of print job starts, and the router reboots.

I am printing via a program called p910nd.
I've tried capturing the data dumped by that application onto another file and used cat [file with captured data] > /dev/usb/lp0

Every single time, I end up getting a first line of output on the page, and leading to a router reset.

The kernel version the firmware has is 2.6.21

My questions :

1. Has there been any such problem with usblp in the past. (Googling it up doesn't show such findings.)

2. How can I go about debugging this one ? (I do have a toolchain and source code)

PS: I'd be happy to share any other information about this box, and wouldn't mind subjecting it to possibly fatal circumstances if required.
