We are porting the USB dongle(high speed) driver from Windows to Linux,
the Linux kernel version is 2.6.28(due to the customer demand). Currently,
the USB dongle use self-power. The problem now is the USB dongle can't
remote wakeup Linux host, but Linux host can suspend/resume the USB dongle
successfully. I have do the following test:
1 The USB dongle can remote wakeup WindowsXP successfully. Both the
Windows and Linux are installed on the same PC.
2 Using the oscilloscope, we can see the remote wakeup signal on Linux
platform from our device. I enabled the wakeup capability of the USB host
controller and the USB keyboard can wakeup the Linux host, but our USB
dongle can't.
3 As the power-management.txt expressed, I can see USB dongle's
/sys/bus/usb/devices/.../power/wakeup file, the content is enabled.
4 On Linux platform, when I select suspend the system, we can capture the
SET_FEATURE request to our device using hardware USB analyzer. This
request set the remote wakeup feature in our device.
I captured the remote wakeup signal for the keyboard and our USB dongle.
They have a little difference.
When Linux is in suspend state, the USB keyboard D+ line is about 0V and
the D- line is about 3V. When using USB keyboard wakeup Linux, the remote
wakeup signal drive D+ to 3V and driver D- to 0V, but our Wimax dongle has
the opposite result, when in suspend state, D+ is 3V, D- is 0V, when USB
dongle produce remote wakeup signal, it drive D+ to 0V, D- to 3V.
I think the little difference will not affect the remote wakeup, isn't it?
For the suspend state is drived by the Linux host, and the device reverse
the D+ and D- to produce the remote wakeup signal. For this point, the
keyboard and Wimax dongle has the same effect.
