I suspect it's highly unlikely that Debian has modified the ftdi_sio driver. 
:-) I just thought that a diff between the latest versiopn of the source that's 
known to be working and the earliest version of the source which is known to be 
not working might be the fastest way to figure out what's going on, especially 
since the two versions are very close together (2.6.32-3 and 2.6.32-5).

Given the closeness of the two versions, and given that it's extremely unlikely 
that Debian has modified the ftdi_sio driver, is it really worth the extra red 
tape, which, in the end, will likely be of little, if any, use?
