It's not clear why you've taken only patch 1 but not patch 2 of that series.
Patch 2 was fixing scripts/checkpatch.pl complaints as well:

Ignore me -- you renamed the patch 2 and it escaped my message filter. I must note that the patches were named badly -- they both claimed to dela with braces and spaces while in reality the 1st one dealt with braces only, and the 2nd one with spaces only. That didn't get cleared up with renaming, unfortunately. :-)
