mode1 is not working on current code. We have it working on the maemo kernel for n900 but I just didn't have time recently to port those patches to current mainline.
I'll add that to my tasks as soon as I have an opening, but I would need help from all you guys to test on all possible boards. The code we have works fine on omap3430 and 3630 but I don't know about omap2420, davinci and blackfin.
