It took some time to find out and fix all the corner cases
that could come up.

This has been tested on N900 which is omap3 based. It would
be nice for other people to test on other architectures and
see what needs to be changed to get mode1 support for all.

btw, here's a throughput result measure with the msc.c tool available at [1]:

test 0: sent   640.0000 kBytes read   24455.48 kB/s write   18259.63 kB/s ... success
