There is similar dmesg for kernel 2.6.31.4. The log indicates that your pendrive encountered hardware errors when the UTV device was plugged in. Without more information it's impossible to tell what caused the hardware errors. You should try collecting a usbmon trace -- but you'll have to write the output file to a networked filesystem, since storing it on the pendrive won't work. The fact that the device works under Windows doesn't rule out hardware problems. You might try buying a powered hub and then plugging either the pendrive or the UTV into the hub. It's possible that this will fix the problem.
