BTW, gentoo used the 2.6.30.4 kernel for 2.6.30-r4.
(almost allways a -rx is .x vanilla-source - clean install from kernel.org 
the -rx is to fit the kernel release number into the gentoo package system.
). 
2.6.29 patches: for Gentoo on top of the plain kernel.
http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd/genpatches/trunk/2.6.29/
2.6.30 still has no patches added.
So the vanilla kernel is equal to the gentoo-sources one for this.
Vanilla 2.6.30.5 is available, if needed

the rx number are not rc numbers.
I guess i do not need to build a new one. (unless it is for 2.6.29..)
