It would be nice to be able to suspend/resume the host while a VM is running.

I think requesting a reset works already. What doesn't work is having
the virtual
machine retain control of the device across resets. I.e., I would like
the device
to stay assigned to qemu/usbip as long as it remains physically connected
to the same port.

I don't think I 'd really like to deal with the very low level
operations (like overcurrent
events) unless it is absolutely necessary. Control over
Set-Configuration/Set-Interface
would be good enough.
