Linux should support it just fine, if the keyboard does so in a valid
HID format.  One of the links you pointed to shows how to write firmware
such that it will work properly, it's up to the keyboard companies to do
it.

Do you have a keyboard that doesn't work properly?  If so, can you
provide the output of 'lsusb -v' with it plugged in?
