Hello, i am having some serious problems with using usb gsm dongles (huawei E1550) with usbserial driver. The problem i am experiencing is devastating on raspberry pi, debian 6 and 7 and also on desktop debian 6 and 7. The device stops responding (stalls) randomly when i use it through ttyUSB, especially on raspberry pi. Then it might start responding again or not, or i have to remove it and reinsert it, or reboot to get it working again. If i connect a few of them with usb hub (tried many hubs), pi starts stalling to the point where it needs to be rebooted. Same for desktop, although desktop stays responsive, just usbserial sometimes unusable until reboot. In short, behavior is unpredictable. I have a feeling there is something wrong with some driver. Since i don't know yet where exactly usbserial driver comes into picture (what it depends on to reach the hardware), i would like to setup a debug environment on pi or desktop and try to find the problem. (or enable more logging) The whole thing behaves normally on windows, so it can't be usb dongle's or usb hub's fault. I sent the same email to Johan Hovold, whose address was available in the usb-serial driver source code. He suggested i contact this mailing list.
