I think the current behaviour might be the safer option. Scenarios: The USB key is really a phone or camera in mass-storage mode, and the filesystem is automounted when the PC disconnects. The key was put in to another machine, and then put back in to the original before resuming from s2ram. For example, suspending a laptop, forgetting that the key is mounted, and using it to transfer files from the desktop. However, I haven't tested either of these scenarios.
