1. Linux does not support the reading edge.
2. you use your computer, and I will use mine.
To be forthright, assuming I ever find a voiceover voice that does not trigger a brain incident, apple would be my choice over Linux.

I still use an external DoubleTalk. All I need is a computer with a serial port. Yes, they are getting difficult to find but I just built a new system with a 24-core I5 and an Asus motherboard. So I should be set until around 2030.

I know you're still running DOS. You probably could find some flavor of Linux that still runs on a 486. Or you could install an old version of Debian or something. I am not suggesting that. I am just saying that you could do in Linux what you are doing with DOS only you could do it better.
