I'm running speakup on slint with espeak. With the speakup soft/rate variable set to 2 the speech is too slow, and keyboard echo sounds like molasses. When I set soft/rate to 3 it speaks too fast, and worse, speakup intermittently stops talking and the syslog fills with nasty messages about speakup variables. (see below). Is there a document that de-mystifies all these variables and provides direction how to configure speakup/espeak/espeakup to read text and echo the keyboard at reasonable speeds? This will save me a lot of monkeying around time. Thanks.
