Chime, just to make sure.
If e.g. on "playback volume down from 90 percent", you must press enter.
Then, if you read the line you are on, it should say something like:
"playback volume down from 85 percent"
If you press enter again and read the line you are on again, the 85 should change to something like 80.

If you do this on the Master control of the card your speakup talks through, you should hear speakup go softer. By the way, could you try that Bass control again on the soundblaster card? I need to go to sleep now, but I will be working more on this over the weekend. I am rewriting some of the code to handle the case where there are both playback and capture volumes.

Well, thanks Willem, no more errors, numbers change, but I am not sure I am hearing a difference. Useing up/down arrows keeps jumping among up from 84% to 90% while you would think it should scroll down to 0. I could probably show you all the controlls?
