So, after the last update, I appear to be using python version 3, and everything is still working fine. For arch users then, they only need to install one item from the AUR, and that is: python-pyalsaaudio There is another similar wrapper, python2-pyalsaaudio, which is not essential for arch users, now that the new release of sam defaults to python3.
