Okash, maybe you could try to add to synth_buffer_add/getc/peek/skip_nonlatin1/clear a call to assert_spin_locked(&speakup_info.spinlock); since that is what is supposed to be protecting the buffer. And it'd probably be good to even just submit for commit a patch doing that so we can be sure of it.
