Re: mounting iphone/ipod/ipad from command line in linux

Yes, the device shows up as /dev/sdb which is what will happen if you plug a memmory stick into the machine.
The following output of mount must have something to do with it all.
fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw)
However, /sys/fs/fuse/connections is an empty directory.
The machine is set up to automount USB storage devices, and a vfat file system is mounted there.
/dev/sdb1 on /media/stick type vfat (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,sync,uid=1000)
I do see apple stuff there, but should I see some thing more?
root@SANote:/home/bid/stick# ls
Calendars Contacts iPod_Control Notes Recordings System Volume Information
root@SANote:/home/bid/stick#

Under the iPod_Control directory, there is a music directory containing directories called f01 through f13. Inside these, there are audio files which I can play with mplayer, however, these file names look like they are machine generated.
TIA, Willem

Hi. If you have an I device already mounted, then as root, you should
be able to type mount, with out any other arguments, and see a list of
devices, and the directories they are mounted on. If you are trying to
discover what device name has been assigned to your device after you
have connected it, and turned it on, then dmesg | tail should give you
the last 10 lines of kernel messages, which should show you the assigned
device name of your I device.

Hope this helps.
