Hi Chuck: I will happily give you the dictionary files I have for dict. I have the webster, wn, a few german and a few more. If I have the original debian packages I can give you those. If not, I'll zip up the directory trees and you can just drop them in place. Kirk On Thu, 31 Jul 2014, Charles Hallenbeck wrote:
Hi folks, On archlinux, as Chris pointed out, the AUR contains scripts for building local dictionaries for dictd. The two I wanted were called dictd-web1913 for the Webster Collaborative International Dictionary, and dictd-wn for wordnet. However, the former needed the actual dictionary files from ftp.dict.org which is not accepting connections, and the latter did not build successfully although no build-time dependencies were missing. So, anybody have any better ideas for locating suitable dictionaries with which to populate my localhost? What about those already on my system in /usr/share/dict? I tried symlinking /usr/lib/dict to /usr/share/dict without success, and tried copying the contents of /usr/share/dict to /usr/lib/dict, also with no success. I'm glad dict.org is available again, but I'd like to avoid intgerruption of service with local dictionaries if possible Chuck -- Chuck in Ghent, northeast of Hudson on the Hudson. _______________________________________________ Speakup mailing list Speakup@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://linux-speakup.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/speakup
