Once I knew I had a working system, I took the plunge and upgraded to 3.2 and had no problems, but I left 2.6.32 installed just in case. I added a line to rc.local to speak the kernel version via ESpeak just so I would know for sure that the system booted in case speech didn't come up for whatever reason. As of now, my system has been up 164 days with kernel 3.2, but it worked fine with 2.6.32 as well. I did the install from the Squeeze live CD and upgraded from there to testing which is now Wheezy.
