Speech and 'roll-off' time(?)

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I am still tweaking things in my Arch Linux image for Raspberry Pi in
which I'm running SpeakUp.

One of the things I notice, not only on the Pi but in my Vinux desktop
while running in a console, is that when I have the speech rate cranked
up some utterances, which by their nature are shorter than others are
clippped. Sometimes to the extent that they are not audible at all.

For example if I type 'nano' at the command prompt with the speech-rate
above about 5 or 6, the letter 'a' is totally missing.

I take this to be caused by what you might call 'roll-off', I think.

Is there a way to delay the end of an utterance to allow the sound to
end without sounding clipped?

I imagine this is probably synth-specific and of course in the Pi I am
using espeak.

Excuse my terminology if none of it makes sense.

Mike
