neat little emacs trick

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

hello all:
I noticed my init files were taking a while to load (probably partially
because of emacspeak), so, I started lookinng at ways to speed it up.
I stumbled on emacs server, and then in #emacs we worked out a solution.
Basically:
alias emacs="emacsclient -nw -a ''"
If there's no emacs server running, it spawns it first. Then you can
just put something like that in your script, and then direct $EDITOR to
that script in ~/bin and you're set if you wanted emacs for other stuff too.
HTH,
