The image is a "hybrid" ISO, meaning that it is suitable for either a CD
or a thumb drive.  I think that you just need to copy it to the drive
with dd.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test this, because none
of my machines are set up to boot from USB.  Others haven't had any
trouble with it, though.
So just grab the ISO appropriate for your architecture.  It should work
for both kinds of media, out of the box.
