Hi Jason. Since my last post, I have conducted a number of tests, which mostly
involve echoing test messages to a file, and then reading it back in a controled
environment. Every time speakup_soft and the speakup core modules were loaded, I
could echo and read back the contents, as long as I did not hit one of the
review keys. Once I did this, the system became completely unresponsive. I
determined this by trying to echo another string to my test file, and when
reading back the file, did not find the "crash-maybe" string I had echoed after
things went downhill. My best guess right now is that it has something to do
with Speakup and SMP configurations, since I get the same result whether or not
I am running Espeakup. Would it help to test again without the speakup_soft
module loaded, and just the core? I will also try the newer kernel, and see if
anything changes.
