Martin, that's something else slackware 13.1 does especially. It uses ansi codes to draw screens in the installation programs and speakup is actually speaking all of the ansi characters and not filtering them out. Should be simple enough to fix by just suppressing all words that start with the two ascii characters 27 followed by 84. Were that the case, speakup installation on slackware would sound lots more professional and be quicker provided Slackware upgrades the version of speakup going out on its disks.
