All you do is "apt-get install speakup", which is very cool. He has proposed to Debian that they incorporate his flow for making this work. However, you still need a working synth to use speakup. I haven't tried espeakup in Ubuntu 10.10, since I prefer to use voxin with speakup, which only works through speechd-up. However, I assume it still works as before, so try using Storm's instructions to get espeakup working. The latest Vinux release, 3.1, is based on Ubuntu 10.10 and uses a modified speechd-up program that makes it work a lot more like espeakup than the old version. Bill
