On ubuntu, just install linux-headers-generic or whatever for your kernel version and in the src directory of the git, just do: make clean make make modules_install That build directory is provided by the headers package, or would be created if you build a kernel and install it from scratch. Just installing the kernel-source package does not do the trick.
