Hi all.

I have a system running debian stable. I want to install version 1.73
of the transmission-common/cli/daemon packages which exist in
sid/unstable. If I try:
apt-get install transmission-common/unstable
I'm told that transmission-common could not be installed. If I try:
aptitude show transmission-common/unstable
I'm told that there is no archive unstable for the transmission-common
package. I suspect this is happening because I don't have references
to unstable in my sources.list, and I don't know if it's safe for me
to add those lines in, alongside the deb lines for stable.

I tried putting lines like this into my sources.list for all 3
packages:
deb ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/ unstable transmission-common
but when I run apt-get update, it complains that
transmission-common/binary-i386/release is malformed, or something
like that.

Could someone please explain where I'm going wrong, and what is the
proper way to install these packages from unstable onto my stable
system? Thanks.

Greg
