-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: RIPEMD160 I think when I figure this out, I may fix several problems I'm having. First of all, I still haven't fixed my large console problem and now I can't use software speech because I can't load the soft_synth module. Here's why. I installed Debian originally with the boot parm of speakup.synth=spkout; that now is permenant even when I remove that option from my lilo.conf and rebuild the boot image. I think it is buried somewhere in the initramfs that is being used. I dove into the various files and scripts associated with mkinitramfs-utilities and got up to my ears in mud. Needless to say, I got lost in there. The scripts have symbolics and all so I can't figure out exactly how the default initrd was built. In any case, if I could figure out the contents of my initrd and how to change it, I could probably clear up the soft synth problem and perhaps gain back the flexibility of my vga values. It's like the parms passed through lilo and even at real boot time are being ignored. I know my lilo.conf changes do have effect as I can change the boot device and all but I just can't seem to pass the kernel boot parameters. I know I'm asking a lot of questions lately but some of this isn't obvious to me and the docs, as plentiful as they are don't really cover this where I can find it. Thanks for any help. Oh, the software speech programs do work in stand-along; espeak and speech-dispatcher both talk from the command line so I just need to get the paramaters/synth variable to obsorb the 'soft' value. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEAREDAAYFAkj5szoACgkQWSjv55S0LfEw5gCgiRHz1XlZ3EeJQfcvU376XSu6 PWEAn0R0SsYnZHVsAN9nFQNifs6Pt0E2 =NOag -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
